That's what's funny. My new-age spam filter (SpamAssassin) did catch
it. I found it before I found the discussion about it on ruby-talk,
and since it had automatically been thrown into my junk mail folder, I
had no idea how it had come to me.

What it caught was:

RATWARE_GROUPMAIL (2.9 points) Bulk email software fingerprint (Group
Mail) found in headers
RATWARE_JPFREE (2.9 points) Bulk email software fingerprint
(jpfree) found in headers
SEMIFORGED_HOTMAIL_RCVD (1.4 points) hotmail.com 'From' address, but
no 'Received:'

If you're having spam problems, I'd recommend SpamAssassin. Aside from
typical pattern-matching rules (which you can customize to avoid things
like the latest MS worm), it also has very good Bayesian filters, and
other nice features. It is written in Perl, but that means the regular
expressions in the pattern matches should be really familiar to Ruby
users.

Sorry if this is off-topic (though it is properly marked), but if more
people use good spam filters, fewer people will talk about, complain
about, or reply to spam.
