Permaculture again

Robert Dober

4/29/2009 10:35:00 AM

Hi list

I just stumbled about this

Agile processes promote sustainable development.
The sponsors, developers, and users should be able
to maintain a constant pace indefinitely.[1]

I guess I cannot hide from anybody where this comes from...
But it really has a lot to do with Permaculture Design. Learning from
iterations would just be the next value (if a derived one) of Agile
that fits perfectly.

The big difference being that PDesign not considering software but
hardware it cannot afford the "make to throw it away" approach and
have to study complex relations and behavior much more upfront, which
might lead to a principle like e.g.

At regular intervals, the team reflects on how
to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts
its behavior accordingly. [1]

Amazing, is it not?

And apologies for the slight OTness of this.

Cheers
Robert

If you want to build a ship, don=92t herd people together to collect
wood and don=92t assign them tasks and work, but rather teach them to
long for the endless immensity of the sea.
