Click on the immediate window
Press Ctrl+A
Then press the spacebar (or delete key, etc...)

That's what I thought, Ctrl+A highlights the contents, but won't
delete.

Not without "help" such as an add-in that will do it.

Personally, I never found it that hard to press Ctrl+A and then Delete.
