It's all part of the concentration of wealth. The rich have bought the
legal system... and with it unending patents. Progress is partially due
to the inventiveness of individuals, which they have a right to
reasonably profit from. But progress is also a product of society as a
whole and progress is not served by eternal patents which stand in the
way of new innovation or indeed the right to life itself.

Anyone can devise a patented technology to protect anything, that
doesn't mean manufacturers will ever adopt it. And the market for 3D
printers will be competitive like every other market for this type of
thing, no manufacturer is going to willingly add some cumbersome
protection technology that cranks up cost and complexity. I also highly
doubt such a technology could ever be legislated into use and forced
upon manufacturers. The article is a lot of speculative, slanted raving.
