Seems to me he went right from trying to be a Dylan clone to being the
luckiest acid casualty in the UK.

Which Dylan movie is it that has the famous meeting between Dylan and
Donovan? Donny plays some sappy dreck, then Dylan answers with that
obnoxious, caustic iteration of "Baby Blue.."

Oh, he rips him so perfectly.

One of the great moments of Howard Stern douchebaggery (there are
many) was when he recounted that scene in terms of Dylan being jealous
of the enormous talent that was Donovan. I'm pretty sure he was
serious.

Interesting-I virtually never listen to Howard but I distinctly recall
his band, made up of his studio lackies/crew, doing an absolutely
killer verion of Donovan's "Hurdy Gurdy Man" (I think that's the name
of the song) in some on air battle of the bands or something. It was
remarkably good and I guess it shows that Howard is indeed a big fan
of Donovan's.

I'm pretty sure that discussion was attendant to the 'band' putting
together that 'song'. I can't help but wonder how well it would stand
up independant of his show, because I thought it was excrement. As
were all of the other attempts he's made at playing music.
