Does anybody some experiance aout FxRuby ? i have Ruby 1.8.2-14 with
FxRuby 1.2.2. i read something about it. but i see that is difficult
implement it . Actually layaout manager a bit of different.

There's a new book coming out this month, http://www.pragprog.com/tit...,
that gives a good intro

I was a volunteer reviewer of the draft, I had tried using FXRuby and
not had much success, and found the book excellent.

As Chris noted, the FXRuby book is now available in beta and it should
be able to give you a good head start on working with FXRuby. I should
point out that you're using very old versions of Ruby and FXRuby, and
you'll probably want to upgrade to more recent versions of both to
take advantage of bug fixes and other improvements.

The book is great to get started. Try also the user guides on the fxruby.org

I'm using Ruby 1.8.6 with fxruby-1.6.12-mswin32. I get started using
FXRuby by reading the examples provided by the default distribution.
I'm very happy with the speed it runs on my machine, even more quickly
than Java swing.

Of course, you must hack some lines to blend a app the respond well to
your needs. But the results are good.

I think the code samples can be useful, while the book is not fully availab=
le.

Does it cost any money to view the beta version of the book?

A free sample chapter is available for download at the book's web site:

When you buy the Beta book, you're basically buying the latest draft
version of the book, before it has been through copy editing, etc.
You'll be able to download successive releases of the PDF as I add
material and correct mistakes, but I can tell you that the book is
basically complete at this point.

If you just purchase the Beta PDF, you'll get the final PDF when the
book is finished. If you buy the combo pack (Beta PDF + Paper Book)
now, you'll get the Beta PDF now and the paper book when it's released
in April.
