I want to make a well-designed site in Lisp where end users can post their family photos and videos to share with their friends and family. Where do I start ?

I would suggest you get as far as setting up a simple static "Hello
world" site / page.

Before you can have the world view your work, you need to get a server
to host it on (that can run Common Lisp if that's your desire).

As mentioned in some other posts to you, you should probably learn UNIX
(preferably GNU/Linux IMHO, especially for server things).

Hi Matthew,

How do I start setting up a simple static "Hello World" site / page in Lisp where I can place my photo/video sharing app? Is there a tutorial for this ? Sorry for the very noobish questions ... I thought I would be able to master Lisp in a week or two with no experience just by looking through Paul Graham's On Lisp but this seems like a mirage now , I still have no idea how to create a simple static page in Lisp. It seems like I will have to endure months if not years of pain before I get Lisp. I still stick by the photo/video sharing site idea though ... I think its a really cool hack that could get tons of users and grow into a very successful site. If you could give me some simple instructions to start this off , I would appreciate it .... There are very few Lisp hackers around in Singapore, if any, so I am forced to look for help on this forum. Thanks a lot !

Once you've learned unix, it's rather trivial to install and activate a
web server on a unix box. You can rent dedicated servers "on the
cloud".

Probably. But what has that to do with lisp?

Did you google for: dedicated server tutorial?

Just don't let your Go game site distract youâ?¦

Unlikely. Because even if you disguised yourself, why would you hide
your vast sysadm and bash skills?

Yeah, but what about the questions about web site development, the
absence of reaction to answers, and the final dropped ball?

Maybe you were right after all. But I'd thought it was a franchise.
