The end of what? I teach a certificate program for the university of
washington extension program... I'm intensely curious what end is near.

Hey Ed,

I don't know about you.

But I know that I'm certifiable. People have been telling me that for years.

And having met Ryan last weekend at RubyConf, I'm reasonably certain
he's certifiable too. <G>

$2500 for a 7 week course??? Can it really be better than just working
through a good book on the subject?

What if the book comes with a Cert in the back, then when you get to
the end you're certified.
Actually, the certification should be printable but only if you can
solve a programming puzzle from the book. A puzzle that is tied to
your name and birth date and requires understanding of topics from
each chapter of the book to complete the puzzle and successfully
generate your printable certification in PDF all done with Ruby...

There's nothing wrong with certifications, or diplomas or degrees,
just as long as they're taken for what each of them are individually
in their own setting. Don't knock it until you see the results.

Analogies aside.
