The elections are supposedly held because of disagreements between
Fatah and Hamas regarding the electoral law. However, as you know
from the latest news, Fatah and Hamas have reached an understanding
but the US is threatening to stop all aid if Fatah signs an agreement
with Hamas. Thus, much is suspended.
