This is classic case of open source ball game. Its a clear case of
namespace pollution by both rake and ActiveRecord.

First, though I understand Jim's intentions of making things
friendlier to the users of rake by importing entire FileUtils into
Object, but there seems to be a problem here.

Then ActiveRecord makes it worse by importing all methods of rake into
itself. I do not understand why ActiveRecord is hitting upon a rake
method, while running a migration.

He whined about how it was unfair that he had to wear makeup for the show
and blamed it on the fact that he was a black man. Somehow, Star Trek is a
racist production in a racist world of TV so, they try to hide the black man
even when they allow him to appear on screen.

I never heard that. When was that interview?

He was amusing on Next Generation, less so on Deep Space Nine.

As I recall, it was while Next Generation was still airing.

If it's true, then it was very generous and gracious of the suits to
look past it. Surely there were times when they could have killed off
the character, but they didn't do it. It's equally likely that they
could have left him out of the movies entirely, but, again, they didn't
do it. I'm hoping/thinking that this was just a smear piece that you
made the mistake of taking seriously at the time.
