Rubygems installation on MacOx.

I am trying to install rubygems on my mac ox 10.3. everything works
great, and when i tried installing gems by ruby setup.rb, it worked fine
too. it doesnt recognize the gem command at all, when i do gem, or sudo
gem. so i wasnt able to update anything.
can anyone answer that?
