[ANN] RubyConf 2007

Hi everyone --

On behalf of Ruby Central, Inc., I'm very happy to announce the
seventh International Ruby Conference:

RubyConf 2007
November 2-4, 2007
Omni Charlotte Hotel
Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Stay tuned for announcements about registration, talk proposals, and
hotel arrangements.

A few logistical things:

* Registration will be $250 for the whole event. (There's no no-food
discount this year.)
* The hotel is offering us a rate of $109 plus tax per night (and
it's a nice hotel!).
* We're looking for sponsors! Please contact me if interested.

See you in Charlotte!

Sweet!

David, would it be possible to set up an RSS feed this year we can
watch for announcements?
It'd make the folks who only read RubyTalk occasionally happy, I think.

Whoo-hoo! Between the Ruby Hoedown in Raleigh and RubyConf in Charlotte,
this is a very lucky year for Ruby programmers in North Carolina!

So much for Canada, eh? ;)

If Matz isn't available I vote for Joe Armstrong to deliver the
keynote. Heck, invite Joe regardless.

An Erlang keynote at a Ruby conference? I mean, yes, Erlang's
interesting, but a keynote?

Avi Bryant is doing a keynote at this year's RailsConf...Why not Joe Armstrong at
RubyConf?

Hey, didn't the creator of Objective-C give a keynote at a previous
RubyConf?

It's the Ruby culture.
It's not an Apple keynote where you expect Steve Jobs if there's to
be anything amazing.
Ruby culture has preferences, but tends to be the type of people who
are interested in concepts and ideas and less in the annoying details.

I'm not opposed to it, I'm learning Erlang etc., but it did make me wonder.
