The /ei/ combination is not a diphthong, but two distinct vowels. Thus,
fre-EE-ra. Similarly in Spanish, it's not ValparEYEso for Valparaiso, but
Valpara-EE-so. They tend to come out sounding like diphthongs when
promounced quickly, however.
