More space on the shelf...

greg.kujawa

1/5/2007 4:41:00 PM

I got returned from a trip to my Barnes and Noble store next door.
Grabbed a coffee and checked out the Computer section of the store. It
was great to see perhaps a dozen different Ruby titles on the shelf.
Everything from The Ruby Way 2nd edition to various Rails books. Just a
year ago there was maybe half the amount of titles on that shelf. It
seems as if Ruby is indeed "making traction" (gotta love
corporatespeak) in the overall technical community. And after forcing
myself into more C# project work I can say Ruby is still my favorite
for quick and dirty programming. A lot more fun than using just about
anything else!

"Quick and dirty" almost sounds offensive :P
It's good for much more than just "quick and dirty" programming.
You know, to some, it's a way of life :)

ya, Ruby's got breadth(uses from sys admins to developers) and
depth...

this Nuby just had a look at yaml/rubytypes.rb, good golly. and the
kernel method for y in the parent yaml.rb, just to satisify a nagging
curiosity about how it would be possible to include yaml.rb and have
all objects suddenly have to_yaml...it's deep.

bet PHP's var_dump() doesn't look like that.

GOP, you're too stupid to understand why one can't be "left-wing" or
"right-wing" and be "anti-government."

I know you've been on your knees swallowing the government's
"anti-government" spunk for years now, and it seems natural to you.

You're not alone. There are a LOT of stupid, thirsty people out there.

And I know you've never considered what right-wingers are to the right
OF. And it escapes you what left-wingers might be to the left OF.

Because if you did, you'd understand how this all works.

Lliberals are such experts at demonizing their opponents, and this is
just another trick to get the faithful to start salivating when they
hear the "anti-government" bell.

See? They aren't anti-government. They are anti illegitimate government.

There is a difference.

If they were anti-government then they wouldn't approve of the federal
government before 1933. Since they do that means there is government they
approve of.

So once again...where is the anti-government you claim?

Still waiting for a cite to a right wing anti-government militancy.

I cited over a thousand of them and an FBI Bulletin expressing concern
about a particularly murderous one that pulled off the Oklahoma
bombing and just keeps going.

Just enjoy your deluded circle jerk, there is nothing more to say.

No, you cited people that are against certain policies of the existing
government. That does NOT mean they are anti-government.

>and an FBI Bulletin expressing concern
> about a particularly murderous one that pulled off the Oklahoma
> bombing and just keeps going.

Yea, and that has what to do with your claim they are anti-government?

Hell, if we go by the standard you are attempting to set up then YOU are
anti-government, Dudu is anti-government, ever person out there that opposes
any government policy or leader is anti-government.

So, no, simply pointing to some people who have issues when our current
government does NOT establish them as anti-government. They may be anti
certain government policies, actions, etc, but being opposed to what the
government is doing is NOT the same as saying you're against any government.
