Could Robert Klemme please re-post his reply to "newbie: unpacking
binary data"?

It seems my post and his reply have disappeared into the ethernet.

Hi Mark,

You may be interested to know that the 'forum' you're looking at is
really just a front end to a mailing list that happens to be connected
to a news group.

Though the forum may 'disappear replies into the ethernet', google rarely does.

Case in point:
