Hi All
I was wondering if you could help. I've tried Vim which I like a lot
but I wanted to give XEmacs a try with Ruby. I installed it after
downloading the XEmacs Windows installer and started it up with a Ruby
script. No highlighting.
I find out I need to download the Ruby mode files - which I do. I
unzip them to several directories because I don't know which is
necessary - all the descriptions and howtos use Linux paths - which are
different to the locations on my Windows installation by a large degree
with mentioned directories not even existing in the Wndows version.
I check an init.el file in the installation and it contains the
required references to "ruby-mode" already, however, when I open up a
script - not working. I attempt to initiate Ruby mode manually M-x
ruby-mode [RET].
Not found.
I unzip the ruby mode files to almost every directory in my
installation of XEmacs. Restart and try again. Not found.
I hunt for 2hrs online for information on configuring XEmacs on
Windows, especially Ruby mode. Can't find anything that helps.
So in utter desperation - can you please point me in the right
direction?
All the best.
Doug
