[serial ports ] looking for help

I just switched to Ruby and I am finding my way through it.
One of the things I do a lot of is use serial ports to talk
to devices. I have been looking for the best way to support
serial ports using Ruby.

I would appreciate any input.

I don't know anything about this.
I just happened to see this the other day while looking for something else.
