Using resolv.rb

Hello All

I am working on developing an application that does mx/a/ns lookups .
I was looking into the resolv.rb lib.

http://www.eng.dmu.ac.uk/~hgs/ruby/RUBY_SNAPSHOT_RDOC/files/lib/ruby/1_8/reso...

Also I would like to be able to easy open a socket to a port/ip and get/send
a response.
What lib would be easiest to use ?

I am new to Ruby/Rails, but come from a OOP background.

Thank You

Resolv::DNS does that quite well.

Use the built-in socket library.
