Windows updates wreck screen settings

When I download Windows security updates my screen resolution, font sizes and
icon placments change to default. It appears that the monitor is booting up
in safe mode. or the lowest resolution. The icons are enormous.

Every time this happens I must reset all of my display settings and
reposition all my icons. I have tried to save the desktop theme but to no
avail.

Simply restarting does not have this affect. Only when I download security
updates.

First, you need to find an applicable discussion group for your Windows
question.
This is a .NET programming group.

As you appear to be using a web interface, start here:

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/de...

Click the + beside your language. then scroll down to Windows. Find the
subcategory for your version of Windows, then find a group there for your
question.
