Variable name with hyphen / dash

Hi
Is it possible to put a hyphen in a variable name?

I'm creating a DataContract for a WCF service and ideally I would like
the output XML to have hyphens in the variable names. Is there any way
to do this?

I do not believe any languages allow for a dash in the variable name (vb or
c#, at least). You can however customize the xml storage in any way you
would like.

I'm not sure exactly where I can introduce the hyphens in to the XML -
any suggestions?

I believe this page shows custom serialization which you want. You should be
able to put dashes in the custmized element names.
