HElp me to connect my web services to SQL server

Hi,
I've done my database in SQL Server 2000. Then, I've also create new web services using VB .NET ...
Could some one tell me step by step how to link them together, So my web client can access the database
through web service. Cause I found difficulties to find the step on the internet. Or could you guys
give me some links that I can refer to.
