Thanks for the reply. So in case I have an dll it would be
"appname.dll.config". Am I right in assuming this ? Next Question is
where would this config file be in the event of this dll being in the
GAC ?

not for dll. The dll is hosted always by a process, then the config file is
tied to that process.
