I recently was having troubles installing Visual Studio 2005 on Vista, and
in the process of trying to solve it, I uninstalled the .NET 2.0 Framework.
Now, when I try to reinstall it using the dotnetfx.exe file downloaded from
MS's website, I get the following error:
MSI (s) (18:60) [15:15:14:441]: Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 --
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture
="x86",version="8.0.50727.42",type="win32"'. Please refer to Help and
Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD. assembly interface:
IAssemblyCacheItem, function: Commit, component: {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-
C8B3B9A1E18E}
All my searching for a solution has come to nothing, as HRESULT 0x800736FD
doesn't seem to be explained anywhere.
I've tried deleting/renaming all the *.VC80.* folders in the WinSxS folder,
and I've tried renaming all instances of mscoree.dll. Nothing works.
Please help,
Joel
