ODBC timeout on long queries

Paul

8/30/2002 4:17:00 PM

I'm using the ODBC ADO.NET library to access a Sybase
database to access a long-running query for an ASP.NET
page. I set the ConnectionTimeout to 0, but it's still
reporting a timeout error. Can someone provide a hint on
how to set the timeout correctly?

Many thanks,
Paul

Paul,

The Connection Timeout property is used to set the time that a connection maybe created within. To run long-running queries, you need to set the Command Timeout
property to a value higher than 30 seconds which is the default. You may specify this value to be zero and in this case the query never times out.

Check the ODBC Documentation (located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft.NET\Odbc.Net\Odbcref.chm) for further information.
