After installing .net framework sdk I find I have a new User Account called
"ASP.NET" (Win XP Home)

My questions are:

What is this for?
How would I use it?
Is it necessary to be there?
What would happen if I deleted it?

Thanks

Hi Bruce,

What is this for?
Your ASP.NET Applications will run under this user.

How would I use it?
You don't use it directly.

Is it necessary to be there?
You can change ASP.NET to run using LOCALSYSTEM account or
any other account you choose. All you have to do is change
the PROCESSMODEL SECTION in the MACHINE.CONFIG file. You
can find this file in
c:\windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\Vxxxxx\Config
(c:\windows is the windows directory, it may be different
in your system, and xxxxx is the version of FrameWork).
After you change this file you will need to reboot your
machine (at least in W2K you need it).

What would happen if I deleted it?
If you remove it without change de MACHINE.CONFIG your
ASP.NET applications will not run.
