Robert, given that you're just getting started in C, the above is
(IMO) the single most important thing to keep in mind. At my first C
job, I learned the expression "works by accident", to explain why
things that are incorrect may appear to work correctly here, now.
Tomorrow, or on another platform, they may behave quite differently.
