Working Ruby for PPC??

Has anyone had any luck with ARM version of Ruby V1.8.0 at

To say I was quite excited was an understatement. But on the
two PPC 2002 units available to me... no joy :-{. It hangs
on load (slowly but surely consuming all available memory)

If anyone knows a magic incantation or an alternate working
version, I'd be delighted to hear from you.
