In the Query Analyzer, when I use "AdventureWorks"

I issued the query: Select lastname from person.contact

The message states: Invalid object name 'Person.contact'

When I issue the Query: Select LastName from Person.Contact

I get results.

Why is the query CASE sensitive? I looked through the Tools/Options and
didn't see an option for this.

Thanks

Spanky deMonkey,

The collation of the db should be case sensity.

select [name], collation_name
from sys.databases
where [name] = 'AdventureWorks'
go

You will see %_CS_% in the name of the collation.

Hi. Thanks for the reply but I don't understand what you said. What does
> The collation of the db should be case sensity.
mean and how does it apply to me?

So how can I query the Contact table using contact instead of Contact? Why
is it case sensitive?

Thanks

Spanky deMonkey,

> Why is it case sensitive?

May be this collation was selected during SQL Server Installation, so the
collation of database "model" is case sensitive or it was the collation
chosen during the creation of the database.

Sorry, baby..I don't open blind links.
Apparently, you DO have a hard-on for me..
I dont need to click on anything to realise that.

Maybe with therapy - you'll start to be comfortable with that
body . . . rather than embarrassed.

Dave, it's ok, don't be embarrassed. We're all friends.
