This problem does not involves only tech geeks, it concerns almost every
kind of people, from professors to janitors, in every level of the
society. Who can feel good when seeing all politicians fighting for
power, while they should be working on some social improvements? There
is a embarrassment in politics, and that's surely why nobody wants to
involve him/herself into that. Not only geeks.

Waitâ?¦ you mean somebody who started to think about politics because he's
been banned of ycombinator's hacker news one year ago is so less
ignorant that he can teach other geeks how many ignorant they are?
You'll not touch anybody if you start your talks insulting and devaluing
your readers.
Please, you're talking about "politics" in a place dedicaced to Lisp,
arguing politics concerns everybody. Why don't you talk about ecology?
It concerns everybody, too. Why don't you talk about bad food?
Exploitation? War? Illegal immigrants?
Because you're supposed to talk about Lisp.
Talking about politics in c.l.l. is simply to forget respecting our
desire to talk about Lisp and nothing else. You must hold us in a very
low esteem to simply ignore our considerations.
