Web Service Proxy Hanging

I have a web service that always works when I call it from something like
http://www.soapclient.com/soa... but frequenly hangs in
GetWebResponse() inside the C# proxy code that I generated for a standalone
app? It works on occasion but just as often as not it hangs...i don't know
why?

Can someone give me any suggestions?
